Its exterior is based on the 3rd generation of Honda Hornet with a few changes. It honestly looks so good to be called a fighter jet on 2 wheels. It proudly shows its powerful engine, fork mounted cowl fairing, side radiator shrouds and cast aluminum 4-sporke wheels. Being a naked bike it would be a real shame to hide those muscles at the end. In addition, it is equipped with both rear and front LED lights. All these details make the bike look so stylish to the extent of distracting passers even when parked.

The interior has an all-digital instrument panel that includes coolant temperature, tachometer, odometer, LCD readouts, clock, two trip meters, mpg and average fuel consumption. The front suspension is a 43 mm cartridge fork that is inverted with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adaptability. The rear is also equipped with a gas charged HMAS shock which features rebound damping and spring preload adjustability.

The 2016 Honda CB 1000R weighs only 485 pounds and is equipped with a powerful 998 cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine. It also has a close ratio 6 speed transmission similar to CBR1000RR. The engine`s character may lack high degree of entertainment value compared to some of the competition`s exotic architectures but it does everything providing power through a very wide rev range and does not have flat spots from 3000 and higher in any of its gears. However, the engine is detuned slightly. In order to make this bike more appropriate for traffic rides, it sacrifices some of top end power. This fact does not mean that the bike is less responsive when the throttle is twisted. In addition, it has lower end torque that makes its passing to be easier. Even though it is not designed to economic, the urban fighter has a decent fuel economy with around 37 mpg average fuel consumption.
